Brackish
Brackish:
Brackish-style aquariums are Aquatic systems that are not quite saltwater and not quite freshwater but somewhere in between. Aquatic life that occupies the river delta often prefers brackish aquariums, along with many “freshwater” crabs.
Brackish classification is determined when an aquarium’s specific gravity measures 1.008 to 1.018. Any below 1.008 in the aquariums is considered freshwater. When the specific gravity is above 1.018 the aquarium is classified as saltwater.
While brackish-style aquariums struggle to support much plant life many “freshwater” puffers do best in brackish. The common molly can easily adapt to a brackish environment.
