Salt water Aquariums
Salt Water Aquariums:
Saltwater aquariums come in two main types:
Reef: Having coral
Fish with Only live rock: Non-coral.
The style of tank is preferred to be decided before set-up, this affect which salt is to be added to the tank. (any tank style should have which salt is preferred researched before set-up).
Reef Tanks:
Reef tanks are replicates of nature’s coral reefs in shallow marine waters. The set-up of a reef tank will seem very similar to a fish with only live rock tank. The key difference during set-up will be the selection of the lighting, and the kind of salt used to mix the water. The lighting in a reef tank must ample with a large span of the spectrum. Coral are animals belonging to the same family as jellyfish and anemones. Coral host specialize algae that product organic nutrition to the coral. The salt is also consider for reef tanks due to the trace elements. Coral grows in colonies that rely on a series of calcium skeleton that expands as new polyps develop. This requires higher calcium levels.
Fish with only live rock:
Fish with only live rock tanks do not host coral and standard marine salts are sufficient for maintaining the aquarium. The tank style can use Standard lighting. Fish with only live rock tanks are closer to shallow seas like those around beaches. The style is recommend for beginners. This tank style gives the owner a great experience for what salt water tanks in general require without the need to manage the tank so closely.
